Imerys Insulation Services expands cryogenic insulation evacuation services in Perlite Americas division

Imerys Insulation Services expands cryogenic insulation evacuation services in Perlite Americas division

Imerys Perlite Americas added two more intrinsic mobile vacuum units allowing disposal containers to be located up to 300 feet away from the work. Additionally, Imerys acquired a vacuum bulk tanker supporting the small and quick jobs, and identified new containers to further control emissions during evacuation, and ease the disposal or re-application of perlite. These new mobile evacuation units improved the distance and capability to remove wet perlite, and increased the volume per hour. The new equipment establishes Imerys Insulation Services as the leader in the volume per hour that can be evacuated. This sets up their customers with opportunities to reduce their downtime for maintenance work.

In 2016, Imerys successfully completed over 400,000 cubic feet of perlite removals for their customers. This included basic evacuation, hot nitrogen application to melt and remove frozen perlite, manual removal of wet perlite, and brush downs plus wash downs of the tanks and boxes. Imerys also utilized its fixed assets and contacts around the country to aid in the disposal of evacuated perlite for their customers.

Imerys strengthens its presence in cryogenic insulation in Asia Pacific by acquiring Worldwide Perlite Services

Offering mobile, customized solutions for perlite evacuation, expansion and installation, and high quality expanded perlite

Imerys F&PA AP (Filtration and Performance Additives Asia Pacific) announced that it is growing its assets in cryogenic insulation services by purchasing mobile perlite expanders and related services from Worldwide Perlite Services (WPS), a company with decades of expertise in the industry. WPS is headquartered in Western Australia and has offered industrial insulation services since 1990. With this purchase, Imerys will increase its Asia Pacific and Middle East presence in mobile perlite evacuation, expansion and installation services for cryogenic insulation. Liquefied gases having boiling points as low as -269°C have created a demand for storage facilities capable of reducing evaporation losses economically. Perlite, widely used for insulation because of its low thermal conductivity, cost, ease of handling, nonflammability and low moisture retention, performs well in insulating cryogenic and low temperature storage tanks, air separation units, cold boxes, nitrogen, oxygen, argon and LNG storage facilities, and in food processing. Imerys Filtration & Performance Additives is a division of Imerys and a world leader in the manufacturing of high quality filter aids and functional mineral additives, with operations in Asia-Pacific, North and South America and Europe.

Imerys adds mineral wool installation to services offered for cryogenic insulation

Imerys has expanded its services to the cryogenic insulation industry by adding mineral wool installation and removal.

Mineral wool insulation is used for sound proofing, pipe insulation, thermal insulation, and other applications. Cryogenic mineral wool fibers are made from natural or synthetic minerals with predictably low organic matter content thus lowering the risk of explosions in liquid oxygen installations.

Imerys can install mineral wool by hand-packing to provide the optimum performance. The mineral wool can be removed for maintenance or inspection and then reinstalled (same or new one) by Imerys. This expanded service allows Imerys to offer customers turnkey jobs for the complete insulation of cold boxes and piping.
